While many companies are looking for qualified employees, numerous Ukrainian professionals still face significant delays in securing positions that match their qualifications. A recent article published by Wiener Wirtschaft examines why this potential remains underutilised and which factors contribute to successful labour market integration.

Combining current data with personal experiences, the article highlights the role of language skills, professional networks, practical work experience and targeted support in helping highly qualified professionals access employment that corresponds to their education and expertise.

Among those featured is Hanna Lystopad, who was supported by the Safavi Impact Institute on her path into the Austrian labour market. Together with her employer, Stephan Bartl, she also participated as a panel speaker at the conference “A Labour Market with Potential: Ukrainian Professional Women Between Qualification and Integration.” The discussion focused on practical experiences and explored ways to make better use of the skills and expertise that Ukrainian professionals bring to Austria.
