On June 30, 2025, the Safavi Impact Institute and the Vienna Chamber of Commerce (WKO) held a second workshop for Ukrainian women interested in starting their own businesses in Austria. Following the successful kickoff in March, this session focused specifically on Austria’s tax system.
Ilona Wurzinger provided a practical overview of the various types of taxes relevant depending on business type and activity. Topics included income tax, VAT, social security contributions, and sector-specific regulations. Using real-life examples, she explained what tax obligations founders can expect and how to plan their finances realistically.
Once again, the workshop offered space for personal questions and open exchange. Many participants used the opportunity to refine their business ideas and gain clarity on the next steps toward self-employment.
