On June 23, 2025, the Safavi Impact Institute took part in a roundtable discussion at the Complexity Science Hub in Vienna. The event brought together experts from academia, civil society, and policymaking to discuss the future of over five million Ukrainians displaced by war. The conversation focused on the global economic impact of displacement, strategies for integration in Europe, and long-term perspectives on return and reconstruction.

The roundtable was hosted by Ljubica Nedelkoska and Frank Neffke, who presented key findings from their project “Opportunity in Crisis – Empowering Ukrainian Refugees to Rebuild the Ukrainian Economy.” The project goes beyond data analysis by working with Austrian and German companies to identify practical ways to support displaced Ukrainians and promote investment in job creation and recovery efforts.

Maryana Voronovych, Project Manager at the Safavi Impact Institute, contributed insights based on two years of work with highly skilled Ukrainian women in Austria. She shared proven strategies in language learning, career integration, and psychosocial support, demonstrating how targeted assistance can improve individual life situations and contribute meaningfully to host societies.
