LinkedIn as a Gateway: Workshop on Professional Positioning in the Job Application Process

How visible is a professional profile – and what actually makes it relevant for recruiters? These were the questions explored by participants of a workshop on LinkedIn and XING held on April 21, 2026, at the Safavi Impact Institute. The session was led by career coach Elisabeth Wieninger, who specializes in application strategies for the German-speaking job market.

The workshop focused on the practical question of positioning: how to present experience and skills in a way that is clear, structured, and aligned with the expectations of the Austrian labor market. It quickly became evident that it is not formal completeness that matters most, but rather clarity, precision, and relevance.

Particular attention was given to the recruiter’s perspective. What matters most is a clear professional positioning, understandable job titles, and concise summaries that communicate relevance at first glance. Even small adjustments – such as a more precise headline or a better-structured description of work experience – can significantly improve a profile’s visibility.

In the practical part of the workshop, participants worked directly on their own profiles. Using concrete examples, they revised and refined headlines and summaries, immediately applying what they had learned.

The group included participants from diverse professional backgrounds, many of whom already had initial experience with LinkedIn. This made it possible to discuss real-life challenges from the job application process in a focused and practical way.

One participant described the workshop as follows: “Very grateful for this workshop (LinkedIn & Xing). Very compact, informative, helpful, and motivating. Many thanks to Elisabeth and the Safavi Institute.”

The workshop highlighted how central digital visibility has become in today’s job application process – and how targeted adjustments can help communicate one’s skills more effectively.

Through formats like this, the Safavi Impact Institute supports the professional visibility of Ukrainian female professionals and helps them navigate the Austrian labor market.
