The Safavi Impact Institute has successfully completed its first Medical German course. The program was designed for Ukrainian physicians with temporary protection status in Austria who are currently undergoing the diploma recognition (nostrification) process.

Austria is currently home to many highly qualified medical professionals from Ukraine whose return to clinical practice is often delayed by language requirements and formal recognition procedures. At the same time, the Austrian healthcare system is facing an increasing shortage of physicians, with many positions remaining unfilled and a significant proportion of practicing doctors approaching retirement age.

The first course group consisted of five physicians: two ophthalmologists, one anesthesiologist, one surgeon, and one general practitioner. All participants are already employed in medical assistant or related roles. Throughout the autumn semester, they attended application-oriented language training twice a week, focusing on medical terminology, professional communication in clinical settings, and the linguistic requirements of the recognition process.

"Through our educational programs, we make a concrete contribution to the integration of internationally trained physicians and to safeguarding medical care in Austria." Safavi Impact Institute

Demand for specialized medical language courses has increased significantly in recent months. In response, the Safavi Impact Institute is expanding its program: starting in February, several additional Medical German courses will be launched, including an online format for Ukrainian physicians living in other federal states.

By expanding this program, the Safavi Impact Institute supports qualified medical professionals in meeting the language requirements for faster professional integration into the Austrian healthcare system.
